The participation by SEDIA at the exhibition presented an excellent platform to promote investment of biotechnology opportunities within the Sabah Development Corridor, as it is a premier annual gathering for the successful entrepreneurs, innovators, policy makers and top professionals in the biotechnology industries from throughout the world. The SEDIA booth was also one of the few booths visited by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Haji Mohd Najib Tun Razak, upon which he was briefly updated on several SDC flagship projects.
With concurrent tracks on healthcare and agriculture biotechnology, this year’s conference focused on feedstock technologies, human capital towards commercialisation, market access, financing and business models in the areas of agriculture and healthcare. BioMalaysia 2011 also saw the Biotechnology Industry Organisation (BIO) hold its annual Pacific Rim Summit in conjunction with the main event. Notably, this was the first time the summit on industrial biotechnology and bio energy held outside of the United States.
